We watched as the trawler hauled her heft into view
Hoping her wake would raise a prize or two
Buzzard and bracken, baby and you
Casting our hopes 'cross the water.
The ship nestled into a dwindling dock
Shedding containers of landfill and stock
Whilst we clambered over magmatic rock
Setting our course for the quiet.
I could sleep like a bear through the winter, you said
Whilst we warmed ourselves weary with blankets and red
And the sun crackled fire as he lowered his head
Soothing the mountains to slumber.
